Stuart Dunlop, Musical Director of ECS
Stuart Dunlop is currently Director of Music at Reading University (appointed 2005), responsible for the directorship of the Chorus, Chamber Choir, Symphony Orchestra and Wind Band. From 2004 to 2010 he was Music Director of the Milton Keynes Chorale and before that Assistant Director of Music at Warwick University and conductor for Watford Philharmonic Society.
Stuart's conducting training includes work with Sir Colin Davis, Colin Metters, Lawrence Foster, Murry Sidlin and Robert Spano at the Royal Academy of Music, in the Czech Republic and at Aspen Music School, where he was a Conducting Fellow.
His work in the USA and Europe has included Los Angeles Master Chorale, City of Birmingham Symphony Chorus, Ulster Orchestra and Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic.
As well as symphonic and choral repertoire, areas of interest include British contemporary music, working with composers such as Sir Harrison Birtwistle, Judith Weir and John Woolrich, and classical period performance with London Classical Players and Hanover Band.
Work with singers is a major career thread. This includes opera, choirs and choruses for oratorio and opera. A particular interest is the development of young voices in choirs and as soloists.
